Founder’s Story

It began as a burden in the heart of Moses Bomett, a 16-year-old African student living in America. Moses Bomett, a child of two different worlds: America, the land of opportunity and Africa, a world broadly plagued with hopelessness and poverty. Having gone through primary school in Kenya and then High School in America, Moses saw first-hand that the disparity between the two worlds was all too glaring.
America, where no child needs to stay out of school and Africa where needy multitudes have to stay at home, their dreams of further education cut short for lack of as little as $20. It was plain to Moses that access to a quality education is the key to that promise of hope for hopeless multitudes of African children. Without much cost, people could give priceless HOPE to the youth in Africa—HOPE for a better future.
It was this burden that pushed Moses to give birth to a Hope 4 Africa Club at Valley High School, West Des Moines, IA, in March 2008. The effort quickly grew beyond the confines of Valley High School, having attracted the attention of the wider community.
So far, mainly through fundraising efforts, Hope 4 Africa is already sponsoring students, buying school supplies, and building classrooms at Ngata Starlets Academy in Nakuru, Kenya. From there, the dream and the plan is to reach out to a greater number of students and schools throughout Kenya and elsewhere in Africa.
