"Long-Term Solutions for Problems in Africa"

Clubs 4 Hope is the backbone of our organization. As our mission states, we aim “To provide an opportunity for the youth of America to bring lasting change and prosperity to the youth of Africa” This is what Clubs 4 Hope is about. We believe that as young as we are, we can all make a difference in the lives of others. If you haven’t already read our founder’s story, you should, because you will find that this is how Hope 4 Africa came to be. Starting from a small club at Valley High School in West Des Moines, Iowa with about 20 members, Hope 4 Africa has now grown into a non-profit organization with branches in various schools here in America. The goal of this campaign is two fold: First, to raise  money to help improve the quality of education at our partner schools and second, to raise awareness about the current situation in Africa. Far too often, the media focuses only on the hopeless side of Africa; as an organization, we would like to change this and it is through this campaign that we will achieve that. As we take time to “educate” the young people in Africa we would also like to “educate” ourselves about their homeland, their lives and what it is like to be in their shoes. When we started out as a club in March 2008, we decided to work with one private primary school in   Nakuru, Kenya. In July 2009 Moses visited Kenya to witness our efforts so far at our partner school. Through that trip we expanded to three other schools: two primary schools and one high school. The difference with these three schools is that they were all public schools and their quality of education was very low. This inspired us to work even harder to help these schools so the students can reach their full potential and achieve all of their goals. In January 2011, our first partner school closed down due to lack of support (in school fees) from the students. It was hard for us to see this, but we knew there was nothing we could do but simply do more for our other three schools. Our current three partner schools are: Ogilgei Primary School, Kirobon Primary School and Boror High School. Every school year through our summer trip, we come up with new programs at each of the three schools. In the past we have:
- Provided 1774 textbooks and library books through our Books 4 Hope program.
- Provided 21 high school scholarships through our Hope 4 Students program
- Provided a computer lab with 10 computers through our Computers 4 Hope program.
- Planted over 2000 trees through our Trees 4 Hope program.
For the school year 2011-2012 we have four programs that we will be focusing on: Hope 4 Students, H2O 4 Hope, Music 4 Hope and Electricity 4 Hope.

Currently we have four active clubs in our Clubs 4 Hope campaign. It is through the support of these clubs that we have been able to complete all our past programs and our big thanks goes to everyone who supported us. This school year we are working on expanding to several schools with our goal being to have at least ten active clubs in this campaign. Our current clubs are as follows:

We will be posting the total amount raised by each school and collectively as a whole in the middle and the end of each semester.

To aid you with the process of starting and running a Hope 4 Africa club we have setup a resources page. These will include anything from a sample constitution to information about past events to artwork that you can use for your events. We will be uploading more information as the year progresses, so make sure you check out the page from time to time. Also if you happen to need something that you think should be on there and it is not, shoot us an email and we will make the necessary additions. Visit the resources page >

To achieve all that we have set for ourselves we surely cannot do it without your support. Share about what we are doing and get your friends involved in making a difference. To get started you will need to do two simple steps:
1. Fill out an interest form. Go here to fill out the form.
2. Download the “Clubs 4 Hope Guide” which is an informational packet that covers everything from how to start a club to how to run a club.

We will then follow up with you via email and you will soon be on your way to impacting lives of other young people like you thousands of miles away.
