"Long-Term Solutions for Problems in Africa"

Africa’s greatest need is to have long-term solutions for its problems. One of the main solutions is quality education for all Africans, regardless of their backgrounds, nationality, economic status, tribe, gender or religion. However, this is not the case for millions of Africans. According to recent statistics, 1 out 3 students in Kenya will not attend High School and 2 out of 3 will not attend College. To change these statistics, we launched a program to help make the dreams of the youth of Kenya a reality. Through our Hope 4 Students program, we are providing scholarships to students to bright but needy students. Through our partnership with Boror High School we are committing to sponsor at least 20 students every year to help them complete their high school education. Hope 4 Africa sponsors students that are bright, hard-working, and successful in school, but simply struggle to come up with the money for tuition. There is an equal number of students sponsored in each grade and every year we reevaluate returning students to make sure they are keeping up with their students and also accept new students to the program. – To sponsor a student for 1 year: $150 x 21 students = $3,150 August 2010: Fundraising efforts start for this program and other programs.
January 2011: A new school year begins at Boror High School and prospective students for the program are chosen by the school’s administration.
May 2011: The clubs in our Clubs 4 Hope campaign raise enough money to sponsor 20 students. Moses along with 6 other students from Iowa State University go on a trip to witness our progress at the schools and complete other programs. We are able to provide 21 scholarship for 2011 and we are planning on doing the same in 2012. Thanks for everyone who helped us make this a reality. Here are the photos of the students currently in the program. Stay tuned for more photos and videos. Starting on August 29 we will be posting two letters from the students every week on our blog.
