Books 4 Hope

Books 4 Hope

While in Kenya in July, Moses visited various local schools in search of ways to help improve their education facilities. One major issue that was clearly evident was the lack of sufficient textbooks and library books. Moreover, none of the schools had any computers for a computer lab. To solve this problem we are embarking on a three phase plan that will provide sufficient textbooks, library books and computers for our partner schools in Kenya.  The schools are: Ngata Starlets Academy, Ogilgei Primary School, Kirobon Primary School, Boror High School.

Phase 1: Purchasing Textbooks

This is our first and urgent phase that will make sure the schools in Kenya have sufficient textbooks for the students to perform well in their studies. Our goal is to raise $6000 for this project where the textbooks will be equally distributed among the schools.

Phase 2: Purchasing Library Books

Apart from their usual textbooks in class, the students in Kenya are not exposed to other learning materials. To solve this we will need to purchase library books for our partner schools. Our goal is to raise another $ 6000 that will be used to purchase the books and be divided equally among the schools in Kenya

Phase 3: Purchasing Computers

In our current society technology is something that we all need to be familiar with. For our last phase we are planning on purchasing computers for each of the schools so the students can start computer lessons. The computers will not only be available to students but to adults as well. The cost will be $ 6000 where we will have completed the Books 4 Hope program.

Fundraiser: Books 4 Hope – 300 Campaign

From time to time students here in America complain of having too many textbooks to carry from class to class. While this is a problem it does not compare at all to having no textbooks.

Back in Kenya, Africa our four partner schools are lacking with sufficient textbooks. In addition a school of about 200 students has only about 30-40 library books. If we really believe in providing quality education to bring hope to the continent of Africa this has to change.

And the change starts with YOU.

Starting January 2010 to March 2010 we are kicking a fundraiser for Books 4 Hope where we need 300 people to donate $20 for 3 months consecutively. Each month’s donations will fund the three parts of the program: textbooks, library books and computers.

Will you be 1 of the 300!
